On this day, the streets belong to the people. The little ones and the big ones. And if you want, your four-legged friends too.

Wer im 8en Bezirk flaniert bemerkt rasch, dass das Kulturgut der Wiener Kaffeehaustradition hier besonders gepflegt wird. Grund genug, das Festgelände des diesjährigen Josefstädter Straßenfestes von zwei Kaffeehäusern flankieren zu lassen.

Dazwischen ist – frei nach dem Motto „SpielRaum“ – viel Platz für Kreatives, Karitatives, Kulinarisches. Neues und Traditionelles, in und vor den Geschäften. Auf der Straße präsentieren sich Wirtschaft, Vereine, Handwerker, Bildungs- und Kultureinrichtungen. Künstler und Musiker haben heuer auf 3 Bühnen ihren Auftritt.

Wir laden ein zu 99x Shoppen – 35x Essen & Trinken – 28x Aktivitäten & Informationen – 20x Kunst & Kultur – 420 Minuten Lebensfreude.

That was still normal in 2005 when it came to being gay, lesbian, queer, being different in public space in Vienna. Ignorance and uncertainty on many sides. That's exactly what two (then) young guys decided to change and without further ado courageously planted the topic in the middle of the city.

The beginning
Markus Rumelhart, today the district manager of Mariahilf, and Ing. Manfred Knopfhart, the office manager there, are the spiritual fathers of the small street festival, who were also active in the early days as a craftsman the donkeys. And it was fun too." Courage and effort were rewarded.

Grown from XXS to XXL, this festival is a cult of the LGBTQ community and a friendly bridge for openness and tolerance in Vienna. Celebrate life together. No matter how and who you love. That's what this festival is for.

Elisabeth Brandl

My "dance floor" as an event and event professional is my city: VIENNA. We are an ideal dancing couple.

The many years of apprenticeship in my craft in event management and event organization have left me with a valuable gift: the lightness, the joy and what cannot be explained with bare facts. It flows. In good Viennese dialect: "It runs like clockwork".

Creating spaces to bring out the special in everything. To let people party well without limits. This is mine.

I like the "good vibes" when organizing parties and I'm the one who brings them in and brings them together. Cheerful, focused, colorful and powerful.
